“To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure” (Titus 1:15).
I’ll bet you’ve already categorized “the pure” as referring to somebody other than yourself, haven’t you? I mean, to be considered “pure” seems to be reserved for the few who have achieved a higher standard of purity in their lives than say, you or I … wouldn’t you think?
But then again, by what means of evaluation do we determine such a thing? The High Priest is examining the spotless Lamb when we bring our offering, not the “list” I bring with it.
Hasn’t the good news of Jesus made it abundantly clear that those who have received the grace of God are the clean, the righteous, the justified, the sanctified, the holy, the pure … and the undefiled? So, dump that evaluation system by which you keep judging yourself unworthy.
Though there may be many questions begging to be asked I want to draw your attention to the simplicity of the statement, “To the pure, all things are pure”. What could this possibly mean? How could ALL things be pure in any sense? And if I am correct it says that all things are pure to YOU.
Notice that it does not say all things can be VIEWED as pure, but that all things ARE pure. I point this out because of our tendency to negate this reality as if it was merely theoretical and not factual. It is Truth and when is truth the truth? When I believe it or when God declared it? Have you had your eyes examined lately?
Examine yourselves to be sure you are bringing the “right and perfect” man into focus. Do you still believe that you are standing perfect in His rest? “Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be unfit?” I trust that you know already that you are not unfit nor are you defiled because we are sure and steadfast in our FIT man. 2 Corinthians 5:13, 14 & Leviticus 16:21
“Mark the perfect man and His righteousness, because the END of that man is perfect peace.” Psalms 37:37
“Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the Word of Thy Righteousness. Thy Word is Pure – Christ was and is our FREE Gift of righteousness and His LIFE abundantly supplied.” Psalms 119:123 & 140
We grew up learning to view all things according to our particular society’s standard of measurement. In the Kingdom of Heaven His standard is Righteousness in which we plum-line every scripture to the Rock of Christ our Cornerstone. But are we looking up higher or are we looking after the things of this world? Our history has been written in Christ and we are turning back to take a second look at this wonderful and so great salvation brought about by ONE man – the Man Christ Jesus our Lord.
